An
Open Letter to
People on the Psychic Path:
With all the media
exposure from books, magazines, films and television's "phone
a psychic," people who wish to consult a psychic may not
be sure which way to turn. As a psychic with more than 30 years
of experience, I offer these comments that may help you to find
the right person for your needs.
There is
a broadly accepted
code of integrity and responsibility
that you should expect from a psychic.
|
| The psychic
should have a regular name - not reverent doctor or madam or
an exotic one-word name you've never heard before. Psychics are
real people who live among you. They have driver's licenses and
library cards- and credit cards, too. |
| The psychic
should have a permanent address—tents don't count!
|
| Beware
of roadside signs, mailers and unsolicited email messages saying
you have been selected to receive a reading. |
| TV-touted
phone-in psychics can be a terrible rip-off. Some people spend
a lot of money on calls to them, without realizing how quickly the
charges add up. Sometimes the results of these calls are disastrous
as the phone psychic offers irresponsible advice or information
without counseling. A phone consultation should be for a pre-determined
length of time, at a predetermined price. |
| You may
feel differently but I personally find esoteric trappings such as
incense, beads, flowing robes and turbans a turn-off. True paranormal
talent needs no window dressing. You should feel comfortable and
safe with the psychic. |
| What
you should ask for—and get! |
| You should
feel free to ask for references. Rather than call or consult
an unknown, try to find someone reputable and established, who can
offer references from other psychics, the media and referrals from
satisfied clients. You wouldn't do anything less if you were seeking
a counselor, therapist or financial advisor. |
| You should
feel free (and be encouraged to) tape record, take notes or have
a witness with you. The crooks and scams don't want you to have
a record of their readings, to have a witness or listener. |
| Know exactly
what the service is and what it will cost you, whether it's
by the hour, half hour or extended session. There should be no additional
fees for special prayers, sacred candles, etc. |
This above
all:
if you're told there is a "curse on you" that the psychic
can remove—walk out! You're dealing with a phony. |
